Tamsyn Ballantyne

Tamsyn epitomizes a student who truly wishes to make a difference. She has gone above and beyond the required 40 hours of community service involvement, already completing over 100 hours . She entered grade nine eager to be active and has followed through! She has volunteered at school and within the community, at the Kitchener Public Library, with Operation Christmas Child, and with Adapted Aquatics and has helped at The City of Kitchener’s Lakeside Park, monitoring butterflies for a three month period as an assistant to a University of Waterloo student working on a Master’s degree. Tamsyn also loves art and she loves Homer Watson Arty Gallery, her charity of choice. It is here that she discovered her passion to explore her inner creativity and learn more about herself through art. She has volunteered at the Gallery for a few years and has seen how it has awakened this passion in others people too, especially the children! Tamsyn is so thrilled that through this award, she is able to give back to The Homer Watson Gallery, a place that has given so much to her!
