Shannon Henderson

Shannon, a grade 11 student, has been impacted by Juvenile Diabetes personally when her younger sister was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She and her family immediately discovered the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the wonderful work that they do and it became her favourite charity. Shannon learned that they are “committed to working tirelessly to develop new and better treatments to improve the lives of people who have Type 1 Diabetes and keep them as healthy as possible”. The JDRF is a volunteer driven organization and that is something that Shannon also understands well . According to her school, she has contributed in a variety of ways to both her school and community through her many volunteer opportunities and her pleasant out-going personality. “She possesses qualities of honesty, integrity, empathy and commitment and is the first person they think of when they are looking for a student to assist in any capacity.”
