Sanasi, a grade 11 student, is described as “a rare mix of exceptional leadership and phenomenal academics, all wrapped in a positive, energetic package”. She has excelled academically and has been involved in a number of music groups at Bluevale. She has championed numerous causes at her school and in the community. Sanasi has come to understand the importance of inclusion and specifically as it relates to children with developmental disabilities. This realization led her to become a volunteer swimming instructor with disabled individuals through the City of Kitchener’s Adapted Aquatics program. It also led to her support of Kate’s Kause, a charity founded in honor of a toddler named Kate with a genetic disorder affecting her verbal and motor skills. The charity aims to build an all-accessible playground, the first of its kind in the local community. Sanasi believes that all children deserve a safe, happy place to play and this award will help to “bring the dream of inclusion to fruition”.
