Rebecca Correia

During her three years in high school, Rebecca has demonstrated care, compassion and commitment to do whatever she can to make a positive difference in her school and the extended community. She is consistently warm and welcoming to everyone she meets and never hesitates to help a student in need. Her kind and compassionate nature make her an ideal role model for all students and these same qualities are also reflected in her tireless efforts with her charity of choice, the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Rebecca was first introduced to Cancer when her mom was diagnosed with the disease a number of years ago. Her mother has successfully defeated the disease but Rebecca decided to help those still struggling and honor those who had lost their battles by joining the Relay for Life committee at her school. Her energy and enthusiasm helped encourage others to participate and she helped her school raise close to $ 20,000. She continues to support the Relay and now 2 years later she is the Co-Chair for the 2013 Relay. She describes the Relay as an event to celebrate victories while remembering souls. Rebecca explains that before the sun sets at Relay, it is beautiful to look around and realize “We are making a difference!”
