Rachel, a grade 11 student, has made a name for herself as a compassionate, thoughtful and generous student. She is dedicated to her academics while remaining very involved in her school. A staff member says “Rachel sees what needs to be done, takes initiative and never loses sight of purpose: to improve the world around her.” This is especially evident in her work with her charity Nutrition for Learning. Rachel understands that students learn better when they have a full stomach. Nutrition for Learning tries to improve the learning capacity, health and well-being of children by making sure that they are fed. They support community breakfast programs, morning meals and lunch programs for over 9500 students in the Waterloo Region. Rachel has seen the need right here in her local community and is working hard to make a difference.
