Marcus Threndyle

Marcus, a grade 11 student, is an active, caring and compassionate contributor to his school community and has been since he first arrived in Grade 9. He plays on a number of sports teams as well as intramurals and also gets involved with musical productions, DECA, Student Council, Reach for the Top and other groups where he sees a need. He is a gifted orator and uses this gift in a number of areas at the school. Marcus loves sports and believes in the power of sport to influence people and for this reason his favourite charity is Right to Play. This charity was initiated in 1992 by the organizing committee for the 1994 Lillehammer Olympic Winter Games. Its aim is to promote the values of co-operation, leadership, teamwork, healthy living and health education through sport and educational programs in over 20 of the world’s most impoverished areas. Marcus acknowledges that his involvement in sports has taught him to work with others, stay healthy, aspire to goals and learn how to respect team mates and opponents alike. For this reason, he sees the wisdom in helping to provide these benefits to people in struggling communities throughout the world.
