Kyela de Weerdt

Kyela, a grade 11 student, volunteers in many activities in her community and is a very mature, responsible and cheery volunteer. She has worked with young children at the Kitchener Public Library, helped at the Women’s Shelter, organized fundraising for Suicide awareness, worked with Operation Christmas Child and the Alzheimer’s Society as well as the Kitchener Youth Action Council and KidsAbility. Kyela is honoured to win this award and really believes that the donation to her charity of choice, The Working Centre, will really make a difference in the lives of those in her community. She has seen first-hand how The Working Centre can help people get back on their feet through the many programs and services they offer including St. John’s Kitchen, The Green Door and K-W’s Job Search Resource Centre. As Kyela notes “The Working Centre is an amazing place full of extraordinary people.”
