Ashley in an intelligent, outgoing student who truly seeks to make a difference in people’s lives. One of her teachers states “whether she is supporting her teammates on the rugby field, encouraging her fellow actors and musicians in school productions or engaging in different initiatives organized by her school’s social justice group, Ashley conducts herself with warmth and integrity”. She is genuinely interested in the projects and the people involved . This is true of her work with her charity of choice, The Gift of Love hamper program through the Wilmot Family Resource Centre. Ashley has worked with this group for the past 3 years helping to collect food, gifts and money for less fortunate families during the holiday season. Not only does she help through her school but she also helps outside of school. For her 16th birthday, she asked for donations of food, toys and other items instead of gifts from her family and friends. She was able to drop off a car full of donations to the Wilmot Family Resource Centre to be distributed to local families in need. This is important to her because this work involves two of her favourite things: spreading holiday cheer and giving back to a community that has given so much to her!
