Grade 11 Award

 

Selection Criteria:

Recipients of the Grade 11 Award will be well rounded students, who most closely mirror the achievement and citizenship values inspired by France-Anne Sweeny. They will also demonstrate balance in the following areas:

  1. making positive differences to the lives of others

  2. empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others

  3. openness to the perspectives, values and traditions of others

  4. commitment to service

  5. commitment to learning

Eligibility

Applicants must be a grade 11 student at one of the Catholic or Public secondary schools within Waterloo Region.

Application Requirements

Applications are available at your Guidance Office or at the link below.

The completed application form will include:

  1. Candidate Statement (250-300 words) describing your favourite charity and why.

  2. One letter of reference from the candidate’s school attesting to candidate’s volunteer work within either their school or community.

  3. If possible, one letter of support from your favourite charity. Although not necessary, this would be helpful in understanding your involvement.

2024 Deadline & Decisions

Final selections from each school must be submitted by May 24, 2024 to:

Disbursement of Funds and Acknowledgment

The Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation will forward the France-Anne Sweeny “Making A Difference” Award to the identified charities on the recipient’s behalf.

The winning students will receive a trophy and be acknowledged on a plaque within their school.
